As an adventurer, Daniel hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia (Mount Springer) to Maine (Mount Kathadin) in 2000. For 6 months (March 8 - September 23), he adopted the "trail name" Koonacky and walked this 3,500 km trail crossing 14 U.S. states. In April 2015, Léger published Objectif Katahdin, his first travelogue with Éditions Perce-Neige.

In 2005, Daniel bought a round-the-world ticket and flew off to discover the wonders of the world. Italy, Greece, Egypt, Nepal, India and China are among the countries he visited.
